Step 2: Campaign Creation
Now that your brand is registered, it's time to create your SMS campaign. This step involves providing details about how you'll use SMS messaging and what types of messages you'll send.
What is a Campaign?
A campaign in EchoTexting represents a specific SMS messaging use case. For example:
- Account Notifications: Password resets, login alerts, security notifications
- Customer Care: Support responses, appointment reminders, order updates
- Marketing: Promotional messages, special offers, newsletters
You can create multiple campaigns for different use cases, each with its own opt-in code and message templates.
What Information Do You Need?
Before starting, prepare the following:
Required Information
- Unique Opt-in EchoCode: A short, unique code (like "JOIN" or "START") that customers will text to opt-in
- Primary Use Case: What your campaign will be used for (e.g., Account Notifications, Marketing)
- Campaign Description: A detailed description of your SMS use case (40+ characters)
- Message Flow: How customers will opt-in to receive messages (40+ characters)
- Sample Messages: At least 2 example messages you'll send (20-800 characters each)
Optional Information
- Additional Sample Messages: Up to 3 more example messages
- Terms & Conditions Link: URL to your terms and conditions page
- Privacy Policy Link: URL to your privacy policy page
Understanding EchoCodes
What is an EchoCode?
An EchoCode is a short, unique keyword that customers text to opt-in to your SMS campaign. For example:
- Customer texts "JOIN" to your opt-in phone number
- They receive a confirmation message
- They're now subscribed to your campaign
EchoCode Requirements
- Must be unique: No other campaign can use the same EchoCode
- Case-insensitive: "JOIN" and "join" are the same
- Protected codes: Some common words (like "STOP", "HELP") are reserved
- Auto-added to keywords: Your EchoCode is automatically added to your opt-in keywords
Choosing a Good EchoCode
- Keep it short: 3-10 characters is ideal
- Make it memorable: Easy for customers to remember and type
- Relevant to your brand: Consider using your brand name or a relevant word
- Check availability: The form will tell you if your code is available
